Iceland is an excellent place to visit and a a place where you can have many different types of adventures. The scenery is amazing and with many many different contrasting landscapes. Glaciers, Icebergs, fire and sand all in one trip. The weather can be very cold, and the wind can make it feel even colder so wind proof clothes are essential. If you can stop the wind getting to you then you will feel warmer.
We hired a 4x4 which really you need as many of the roads are just dirt tracks. Iceland is bigger than you imagine and it takes longer to get from one place to another than you first may think so allow extra time on your journeys for the road condtions and time to stop to see things on route. Much of the Iceland is remote and you can easily get stranded so you shuld take some supplies and warm clothes with you in the car, its easily possible to drive on a mina road and not see another car for an hour!! The Icelandic people are very warm and friendly and are keen to make conversation with you, all speaking superb English, even if it does have a slight US accent. I would recomend Iceland to anyone who would like to get a way and see somewhere that is not like many other place you can visit.

Oe of the most wonderful cities (and countries) in the world. Very expensive, but worth it. Take the Jeep tours (instead of bus tours). Almost every restaurant is very good, the best was a combination of great food, very elegant and a beautiful view from the Pearla restaurant. But above anything else, do not fall into the trap that is called the Borg Hotel.
