Salzburg is easily one of the best, if not the best, tourist spots in that part of the world. It has a combination of both scenic and urban features that tourists look for, and very leisurely place. One can easily find his way around and explore the city on his own. The local people are also very friendly and helpful, and prices are reasonable.

Crystal world looks better on the brochure than in real life. Very weird place, worth a visit though if only for the shop that sells an amazing range of Swarovski crystal.
Check out the American Football at the Tyroll Stadium. The Raiders are an excellent team.
Taxi drivers are very friendly and drive way too fast.
Papa Joe's is the best restaurant and bar in the area - well worth a try.

I got around with a taxi and there is also a Tramway. Nice and good restaurants. Many bars where you have a pleasant stay. Normal prices for food and drinks. Central for trips to Vienna, Salzburg and Slovenia.

We fell in love with Innsbruck's Old Town, with its myriad of small shops and cafes and very friendly people.

A trip to Reisburg Castle is great if only for the view, there is now a lift to the top, but the walk, whilst steep is a great achievement.

Stayed at Courtyard Linz By Marriott - Linz - Wels, Austria.

The hotel is located near an exhibition center and is a 20-25 minute walk from the train station. The neighborhood is quiet and a bit far from the center of the town. One has to take a bus and a tram to get there.
Once there, walk along the river and have a drink at one of the many outdoor cafes to enjoy the scenery. We used Linz as our base and travelled to Wien and Salzburg from there. It turned out to be a smart thing to do as prices of hotels at these two places are much higher for comparable rooms.

The hotel is a short taxi ride from the airport, right next to the train station and a (scenic) ten minute walk from the old town. The Mozart tour is excellent and very good value - visit his birthplace first and then go to the Mozarteum. The fortress is a must, spectactlar views and a very interesting tour. The Sound of Music Tour is very good fun if not a little pricey.
Simply walking round the old town with all its lovely shops, cafes, churches etc. will keep you occupied for a couple of days. When walking to the old town take the route by the river, it's beautiful at any time of the day or night. You can walk anywhere in Salzburg provided you are reasonably fit. Due to the proximity of the train station we took a trip to Vienna for the day which is another beautiful city.
Eating in Salzburg is very pleasant, we didn't have a single bad experience and greatly enjoyed the local dishes and wine. We ate out every night at restaurants in the old town but can't remember any names - probably something to do with the wine and beer!
