If you want good food ask reception staff to recommend Thai seafood outlets.
As for trips, highly recommend Trang and Krabi and their beaches as getaway destinations. Take note that many tourist spots such as parks, waterfalls, ponds etc, have rather stiff entry fees especially for foreigners. But facilities are well maintained and generally clean.
